It’s been a while! As usual I feel off of the updates, got in my head about how/when to come back to it, and then didn’t do anything for months and months. So here I am, back to check in and hopefully get more in the habit again.

Project Check In:

  • Not Yet Corpses is back in the querying trenches, for probably the last time. I’m casually sending it out, while working on other projects.
  • Wish I Might is in draft 2 edits, round one. I’m giving it a readthrough, taking notes, and making plans for the larger-scale edits I want to make (and putting together some resources on that process to hopefully share with y’all down the line!). I’m enjoying it, since I left it alone for long enough that I forgot all the funny parts, and I get to find them again.
  • Dig Two Graves is officially in progress. In April I got about 40k into draft one, but I took a break in May due to personal reasons, so it’s currently on pause.
  • Other Projects:
    • Some Summers is coming together, and being very helpful for planning out the end of the main series. Book 1 is drafted, and Book 2/3 are in the ideas/zero draft stage
    • Wildwood is slowly gathering plot points. Writing a mystery is hard. I have to come up with all the clues myself 😅
    • I’m working on a short story series in the H&H world that I’m hopefully going to polish up and post some of it here sometime this year. At least part one.
  • I have a good list going of ideas for articles on the writing/editing process, just have to get them onto paper and get over the urge to overthink it instead of doing it.

I got to work on an editing project with a friend that is out soon, I hope to be able to share that with you as well. It was nice to get back to editing something that isn’t my own work again, I do really enjoy the process and working with writers to sharpen up their work.

Life Stuff

Life has been… difficult lately. I know we’re all dealing with the State of Things right now, but it really has been a hard few years, and this year is no exception. Trying to find the good times with so much going on is a challenge, but I’m carrying on.

Sometimes writing helps, sometimes it’s hard.

I hope y’all are finding strength despite everything.

What’s Next:

I’m still moving the series forward, one step at a time. My current focus is shaping up Wish I Might, hoping to get it to some of my early reader friends for opinions, but overall I’m decently happy with the larger story elements, I just need to work on making them as cohesive and strong as possible. Makes for easier edits.

After that, I’ll get back to Dig Two Graves drafting, hoping to finish that up by the end of the year.

Whatever else I can get going in the meantime is just bonus.
